A Soft Glow

Waddling back inside after a long day out, I felt ready for a quiet corner. I hopped over the threshold and nudged toward the floor lamp by the armchair. A small ceramic saucer with a folded pastel ribbon lay on the low shelf, catching the quiet, amber glow. I pressed my squishy side right into the crook of the ribbon. The silk squished softly beneath me, wrapping my side in gentle pink folds. Watching the dim light melt slowly across the smooth cotton weave, my eyes grew pleasantly heavy, and I let myself melt right into the quiet night.
