Night Bivouac

I gripped the taut jute guideline and tracked it back toward the wall baseboard as dusk settled over the decking. Beneath the slatted wooden bench, wind shear dropped to zero. In the shadowed recess, I discovered a dry, discarded bottle cork wedged beside a brick support. I rolled the cork flat against the wooden plank, planted my boots against its curved rim to verify stability, and used it as a bolster to prop my plastic backplate against the masonry. With full line of sight across the perimeter deck, night camp is secured.
