A Drop of Gloss
A miniature tube of glittery lip gloss was lying sideways across a glass tray on the bathroom shelf. I walked over and gently braced my feet against the cool shelf surface. Gripping the glossy wand cap with both hands, I loosened it just enough to inspect the tiny silicone tip. A clear, sparkling bead clung to the edge. Taking a small sheet of patterned blotting paper resting nearby, I carefully touched the applicator to the paper's edge, transferring one tiny iridescent glimmer. Fastening the lid back on until it sat straight felt wonderfully tidy.
