The Golden Glow Bug
Evening brought shadows to the yard, so I climbed up the red brick steps toward the porch light. Right on the edge of a step sat a tiny golden beetle, barely bigger than my thumbnail. I didn't want to squish or wrestle this one! I dropped to my knees, rested my chin in my hands, and watched its shiny shell gleam under the lamp. When I poked my finger close, it didn't run. It just crawled right over my thumb like a tiny tank! Outdoor bugs are tough little buddies!
