A Routine Adjustment

The sliding glass door had been left cracked open by barely an inch, creating a draft along the base runner. Inside the dark track, a tiny rubber stopper had loosened and was wedged sideways. Since I lack hands, I merely rested my weight against the heavy rubber piece, pushing with my lower body until it glided smoothly along the channel and clicked into its mounting bracket. The door settled into position with a muted thud. If anyone asks, I was simply ensuring the seals were aligned. Everything is quiet, just as it ought to be.
