The Quiet Roll
Stillness. Then a breath. The surface beneath is cool and lined with faint, shallow grooves. I stay still for a long time, watching the soft light fall across the desk. Nothing rushes me. With a slight shift of weight, I lean forward. A slow, gentle roll carries me across the smooth wood. Click. A quiet tap against the companion peanut resting an inch away. It remains still, but the contact is solid and grounding. I settle back into the groove, resting quietly.
