The Pocket Parasol part 3
I slipped through the front gate and trotted down the sidewalk to the café patio! Resting on a low wicker stool was a discarded paper drink umbrella. Look at those tiny accordion folds! I grabbed the slender bamboo toothpick with both hands and pushed the little paper ring upward with my thumb. Pop! The whole dome expanded into sharp zigzags of brilliant magenta and tangerine stripes. I twirled the wooden stem between my palms, and the patterns spun into a whirring pinwheel! Isn't it wonderful how something so small can feel made just for me?
