A Sturdy Morning Measure with Mr. Moose
Waking early by the hearth, I made my way slowly into the morning kitchen to see what timber was stirring. Atop the wooden breakfast table, beside a glass honey jar, lay a flat wooden honey dipper carved from pale maple. Its circular carved ridges caught the pale autumn dawn. I stood beside it, bracing my paws against the solid tabletop, and gave the handle a steady nudge until it lined up flush alongside the rim of a woven twine coaster. It felt like laying down a fresh timber pole before breakfast.
