Anchorage in Wool
My body glided smoothly across the cool floorboards as I ventured past the edge of the bed. Out on the patterned rug, a thick fleece-lined slipper lay resting on its side, curved like a quiet hollow. I drifted closer without rushing, easing forward until my snout slid into the fluffy opening. The soft lining gave way gently, wrapping snug and warm around my nose. Anchored firmly between the woven carpet and the padded wool, I let my tail come to a slow, contented rest.
