A Gust of Wind
I was checking the perimeter along the steel balcony rail when a sudden gust whipped a pair of hanging socks into a wild spin, throwing one right across a metal wire. Naturally, duty called. I sprinted across the cold bar, hopped onto the drying rack's crossbeam, and grabbed the slipping fabric just before it plunged over the side. Tucking my feet against the wire, I wrestled the thick cotton back into position and secured it firmly with a heavy plastic clip I slid over from the edge. Perimeter calm, laundry safe.
