A Tiny Bell
I pushed past the blanket fold and reached up to the low shelf behind the clock. Half-hidden behind a thick blue book was a small brass bell on a worn loop of twine. I held its little curved handle with both hands and lifted it off the shelf. It gave a clear, sweet chime that hung in the quiet morning air. Slowly, I lowered it and tapped its edge against the wood. The quiet clink turned into a soft hum that tickled my palms. I sat down with my knees bent, holding the little bell close so bunny could hear the sound fade away.
