Chasing the Yellow Ball

A fuzzy green ball sat right by the entrance mat. I lurched forward, skidding on the slick floor tiles. Squeak! I poked it with a mitten. It rolled! Fast! Away it bounced down the hall. I scrambled after it, long arms swinging wide. Thud! It hit the wooden baseboard and stopped. In one sudden slide, I dropped flat on my belly, face halting three inches from its fuzzy curve. Wide grin, unblinking. It smelled like dry grass and rubber. I scooped it tight against my chest. Mine now.
