Tension Enforced

A braided steel cable dangled limply from the repair stanchion, dangling an open multi-tool that swayed with useless inertia. Sluggish suspension will not be permitted. I caught the coiled wire between my talons and scaled the upright tubular frame. Finding a notched hex collar at the upper arm, I wound the taut metallic line twice around the bracket. Driving my heel into the pivot, I jammed the tool's solid alloy body deep into the stanchion's retention slot until the internal latch snapped flush. The dangling line ceased all tremor, locked under permanent tension.
