Lateral Dampener
Night has plunged the rail corridor into blackout, leaving only the muted hum of cabin emergency lights and the rhythmic clatter of track switches. From my perch by the gangway partition, lateral inertia increased sharply along curved track sections. Wedged against the floor runner, I recovered a discarded foam earplug and an intact metal hairpin. Using both gauntlets, I compressed the dense foam cylinder and seated it within the hairpin's bend before driving the assembly firmly into the expansion seam of the sliding door track. The polymer expanded against the steel casing, absorbing the sharpest chassis vibrations. Footing stabilized; the night transit post holds firm.
