Through the Gap
A narrow gap opened behind a stack of hardcovers. I crouched, testing the clearance before sliding sideways through the channel. Dust particles hovered in the sliver of evening lamp light filtering past the paper spines. Halfway through, a coiled USB cable blocked the path. Rather than turning back, I gripped the rubber sheath with both hands, levering my weight until the loop shifted enough for me to slip past. On the other side, an elevated vantage point overlooks the entire carpet. Perimeter secured.
