Wind Chime Relay

I dropped down from the glass table and took a direct path to the low branch hanging over the mulch bed. Suspended from a rough piece of twine was a cluster of three hollow aluminum wind chime tubes. They were hanging perfectly still, just begging for some tempo. I hopped up onto an upturned wooden flowerpot right underneath, squared my boots, and gave the longest metal pipe a firm shove. Ding-clink-dong—the tubes collided in a bright, ringing chord that sent crisp vibrations buzzing straight into the afternoon air. I crossed my arms, caught the rebound on my shoulder, and kept the rhythm rolling.
