Evening Chain Inspection
The dry creek run ended at dusk, so I steered the motorcycle back across the porch threshold and parked on the floorboards by the boot tray. Today's corrugated cardboard ramp left fluted paper fibers and fine riverbed dust compacted into the drive chain links. I set the rear swingarm onto a discarded plastic bottle cap to elevate the wheel. Kneeling down, I picked up a rigid staple from the mail console and ran the metal prong deliberately between each sprocket tooth. A tight plug of cardboard residue popped loose onto the wood. I spun the rear knobby tire once by hand. Clean rotation. The machine is stowed and ready.
