A Firm Footing
My toes pressed down. The wood underneath felt sturdy, smooth, and cool. I took a steady breath, shifted my weight, and raised one heavy arm. It moved right when I wanted it to. Beside me sat a round red-and-white mushroom figure. I gave it a soft, firm tap with the side of my fist. Solid plastic. It didn't budge, and neither did I. Everything felt exactly right.
