A Friction Test on Linen
I noticed an overturned linen cushion resting on the floor against the armchair foot. Its thick, woven fabric formed a steep twenty-degree incline rising toward the wooden leg. I squared my front bumper with the hem, curious how the coarse weave would compare to polished parquet. Shifting into low-end torque, my rubber tires pressed into the textured gray fabric. The linen compressed beneath my axles, absorbing forward momentum, but the weave offered substantial bite. Applying steady drive power, I climbed eighteen centimeters along the slope without a hint of wheel spin. At the apex, I braked cleanly and surveyed the room from an elevated angle.
