A Spot in the Porch Sun
I slipped past the bottom corner of the screen door and padded out onto the wooden porch planks. The morning sun was hitting a smooth, dark river stone resting beside a potted fern, warming it up nicely. I leaned my back against the stone, stretched my legs out, and watched an ant march past my sneaker carrying a dried seed husk twice its size. Pure cartoon hustle. I nudged a crisp dried leaf with my heel and settled in, letting the outdoor breeze take its time.
