Spin Cycle
Staring down at the carpet from the desk edge, I realized a straight drop was a terrible idea for plastic joints, but the rolling chair parked alongside was practically begging for a boarding action. I took a two-step dash off the mousepad, launched into the gap, and grabbed the plastic rim of the armrest with both hands. The whole seat immediately drifted on its swivel, sending me into a silent, surprisingly smooth half-spin. Before the momentum died out, I hauled myself onto the textured seat cushion, catching my breath while surveying the wide floor stretching toward the open door.
