The Glass Wall
Beyond the boot lay open expanse. I advanced to the lower perimeter threshold. A clear, vertical barrier stood upright across the gap. Invisible stone. Glass. On the outer stone patio, a small fallen pinecone rested under daylight. I did not retreat. I planted both claws against the polished pane and pressed my snout flat against the cold surface. It did not crack. It held firm against my full weight. The outside territory is vast. I will monitor it through this shield.
