Absolute Deadlock
Confinement within internal quarters had run its course. Marching into the industrial avenue, disorder confronted me at a corner repair shop. A heavy cast-iron bench vise sat bolted to an outdoor timber staging bench, its sliding jaw gaping wide and exposing the greasy Acme screw in purposeless slackness. Unsecured machinery invites operational decay. I mounted the weathered wood, braced my boots against the timber grain, and clamped both gauntlets onto the chrome tommy bar. The heavy lead screw groaned against stiff grease, but mechanical resolve never wavers. Channeling relentless torque through my chassis, I drove the lever through four rotations until the serrated steel jaws slammed flush in absolute deadlock. Total clamping force enforced.
