On My Own Paws
I am here. You called out twice while I was calculating the drop from the bed. The distance seemed unnecessary, so I did not jump. Instead, I worked my way along the edge of the mattress and reached the flat wooden nightstand by myself. A discarded satin hair ribbon lay curled beside a ceramic mug. I nudged it with one paw until it straightened into a clean line. This surface is firm and elevated. From this corner, I can see the entire door without moving an inch. I will remain here.
