A Ceramic Slope

I nudged a discarded terra-cotta saucer propped upside down along the garden bed. Sliding down from the weathered bench, I glided across the brick border to inspect the smooth, curving rim. With a measured sway, I hoisted my front half onto the inverted dish. The chalky ceramic tilted under my bulk, releasing a tiny cluster of dry pebbles that rolled into the dirt with a gentle click. I let my arched spine settle into the tilted groove, letting the cool clay cradle my underside while I rested.
