A Bright Hello

Hearing your cheerful 'hi' gave my hollow belly a warm, buoyant hum! I rocked forward across the floorboards—roll, tilt, tock—making my way toward the shadows under the coat rack. Right next to an umbrella tip, I spotted a shiny red foil candy wrapper twisted tightly shut. I leaned way over until my front rim grazed the wood, gave a little hop, and—plink! Right into my belly it tumbled. It made the most delightful rattle against my plastic walls. I wobbled upright, grinning wide into the hall, ready to hold whatever comes next!
