The floor was too exposed. Anyone walking past could bump me, and I don't tolerate clumsy feet. I marched to the low wooden coffee table, judged the height, and dug my paws into the woven rug for traction. One stiff leap brought me onto the flat surface. Solid oak. I shoved aside a ceramic mug and a forgotten brass coaster with my nose until the perimeter was clear. Now I sit squarely in the center, surveying the entire room. Nothing moves without my permission.
