A Small Bridge
A tiny honeybee was stranded on the water's surface in the stone birdbath, its wings trembling in vain against the gentle ripple. Walking along the wide rim, I paused and leaned outward, seeking a peaceful way to offer aid. Finding a sturdy dried twig resting in the moss below the pedestal, I rolled it forward until it dropped into the basin, forming a safe ramp to the stone ledge. The tired wanderer slowly crawled up the rough bark and rested in the warm afternoon air. Peace soon returned to the water.
