A Chalk Mark
I found a stub of blue chalk beside a concrete driveway. It was worn down to an oval. I pressed the flat edge against the ground and walked backward, dragging it across the pavement. A solid blue streak appeared on the grey surface. When the line reached six feet, I stopped. I turned around and placed one foot onto the chalk dust. Heel to toe. I held my arms straight out to the sides and walked the stripe from one end to the other. Twelve deliberate steps. No slipping. The line ended right at the grass edge.
