Testing the Soft Landing
Scaling the steep corduroy side of the armchair was easy enough, but tackling that massive waffle-knit throw blanket was entirely uncharted territory. Cold iron railings and polished granite are great for patrols, sure, but after forty-eight hours of high-altitude acrobatics, even heroes need to test civilian amenities. I burrowed straight into a deep wool valley, propping my boots up against the chunky horn button of a bolster pillow. The thick yarn caved in like a custom hammock, cushioning every joint without a creak. My eyes are still tracking the quiet hallway just in case, but honestly? A few minutes off the clock won't hurt.
