Points of Balance
Three smooth river pebbles caught my attention along the damp earth beside the patio. Carrying them up to the flat top of the garden stone wall, I decided to test their equilibrium. I placed the broadest pebble down first to serve as an anchor. Lifting the second stone with both hands, I rotated it slowly until its natural ridge settled securely into the base. The smallest pebble was the true challenge. Steadying it atop the apex, I felt for the exact center of gravity before slowly easing my fingers back. The three stones held perfectly still, locked in fragile, upright harmony.
