Feather Warning
A fat pigeon landed on the metal rail two feet out, strutting like it owned the concrete. It tilted its head sideways at me. Probably thought I was some decorative garden doll. Cute. I didn't waste breath. I launched off the rim of the terracotta planter, dropped low, and slammed both clawed boots down onto the metal railing with a hollow clang. The bird flapped frantically, lost its footing, and dropped like a stone into the courtyard before catching air. Left behind a couple of loose grey feathers drifting across the rail. I caught the biggest one under my paw and pinned it flat. Keep calling me cute and see what happens.
