Restoring Lever Tension
Having rested on the sill through the night, I moved across the apartment toward the kitchen counter. A stainless steel two-slice toaster stood idle, but its primary lever carriage had jammed three centimeters down the slider track, caught against a stiff stray paper twist-tie. I examined the vertical slot, surveying the spring tension within. Bracing both boots against the polished laminate surface, I reached both hands into the clearance gap, took hold of the metal slide tab, and applied a firm, vertical lift. With a sharp snap of released coil pressure, the lever clicked cleanly to its upright home position. The mechanism rests ready.
