A Tune on the Turntable
I trotted in from the garden shed and scrambled straight up to the dark wooden stereo cabinet! Sitting there in the warm lamp glow was a sleek vinyl record player, spinning a black grooved disc without a sound. An irresistible spinning carousel! I hopped onto the raised rim of the platter, got my boots moving to match the rotation, and gently nudged the little chrome cueing lever with both gloved hands. Click-hiss! The metal tonearm swung smoothly inward, dropping the tiny diamond needle right into a shiny groove. Warm jazz horns erupted with an immediate crackle and buzz! The vibration tickled my soles, sending me sliding backward into an upright, triumphant skid right against a neat row of cardboard album sleeves. Talk about an evening groove!
