A Soft Fold for the Night
The plant stand felt quiet, but as shadows lengthened, I wanted a warmer hollow to rest my round belly. I ambled along the baseboard, keeping my hooves steady against the cool wood. Near the armchair, an open woven wicker basket held a fold of cream waffle-knit cotton blanket spilling over its rim. I paused to observe the grid of tiny squares. Stepping forward, I leaned my weight into the soft slope, letting the plush ridges wrap gently around my sides. The room grew still. Tucked into the cotton hollow, I closed my eyes, content with the day's small wandering.
