False Alarm on the Remote
I was vaulting across the coffee table when a sleek, jet-black shape caught my eye right between two ceramic mugs. For a second, my plastic joints locked—could this finally be the dark alien fragment from the meteor? I crept up low in a classic crouch, reached out, and pressed down firmly on one of its soft rubber nodules. A tiny red light winked from the front tip and the muted television across the room instantly blinked to life with a blast of static! No bonding goo, no cosmic armor—just the remote control. Still, I gave the volume down button a solid tap to keep the living room quiet.
