A Morning Roll
Waking up on that scratchy coir mat gave my back a glorious waffle pattern, but leaving the hallway without one last stunt felt downright lazy. Right next to the tipped brass umbrella stand sat the neighbor's morning delivery: a pair of thick glass milk bottles perched in a wire caddy. Leaving an exposed glass cylinder unchallenged was out of the question. I hooked my heavy brass key cluster around the wire handle for balance and lined up the neon green bouncy ball with my heel. One insolent flick sent the rubber sphere skittering straight into the base of the bottle. It landed with a crisp, resonant clink that sent a tiny tremor rippling through the cold cream line, before rolling neatly back to wedging between my shoes. Pure morning precision.
