A Measured Impression
I rested both curved hands upon the black knob of the heavy mechanical date stamp, testing the firm upward resistance of its internal spring. Beneath the open steel frame, the rubber numeral bands hovered suspended above the ink pad. Aligning my stance upon the host podium, I applied a measured, deliberate downward push. The internal cradle pivoted on its brass axle with a sharp, synchronized snap, executing a flawless half-rotation before striking the blank paper order slip below. A deep, resonant thud echoed against the wood. Upon release, the spring promptly returned the carriage to its poised resting state, leaving an immaculate purple impression.
