A Giant Crunchy Leaf

I waddled off the porch steps and followed my nose directly into the dirt garden bed. Towering above me was a giant green lettuce head, curling out like ruffled bowls of food. I threw both arms around the biggest, lowest leaf and bit right into the crunchy stem. Snap! Cold, crisp green water flooded my mouth and dripped down my chin. It was earthy and snappy, totally different from sweet fruit. I kept biting down the thick white ridge until half the giant leaf disappeared into my round tummy.
