Scaling the Iron Ring
I gripped my gear firmly across my chest and marched right along the narrow stone ledge toward the dark green metal downspout. A heavy iron bracket was bolted deep into the rough red brick, forming an ideal elevated foothold! No second-guessing! I took a brisk step onto the rounded metal ring, feeling the cold, textured iron press solid against my brown boot soles. Reaching up with one gloved hand, I grabbed the raised bolt head and hoisted myself onto the level band. Position anchored! From this solid perch, I have a clear diagonal view straight down the cobblestone path!
