Perimeter Beacon
Morning light struck the wrought iron railing, revealing an amber glass bead caught in the corner joint. I disengaged from my pod dampener and approached the bracket. The sphere was wedged tightly between two rusted bolts. I slotted my curved hand beneath its lower curve, levering upward until the bead popped free onto the rail. Rolling it along the painted iron, I guided it precisely over the seed pod cushion. Morning rays lensed through the amber sphere, casting an intense, focused circle of orange onto the grey slate below. A functional optical beacon established.
