Bookend Stability Check

I noticed the lower shelf books leaning at a precarious slant toward the open floor. If one heavy spine slips, the entire row will tumble down like a row of dominos. I planted both feet firmly against the wooden shelf, leaned my whole round tummy forward, and shoved against the tilted edge of an encyclopedia. With steady, rhythmic nudges, I forced the heavy covers upright until they locked tight together. Then I dragged a solid triangular wooden wedge right against the last book to serve as a sturdy temporary bookend.
