A Weighted Lever
I ascended the ruler ramp to reach the lamp base. Near the switch lay a brass key and a cylindrical mechanical watch gear. I tested the gear by rolling it between two fingers. Teeth meshed cleanly against the felt lining of a small tray. I laid the key across the gear's axle rim to form a counterweight lever. One tap on the flat end raised the tip by twelve degrees, clear of a bundle of charging cords. The pathway past the lamp hinge is level.
