A Little Brass Key
I pushed past the front garden gate to see what was resting along the neighborhood sidewalk! Right in the shallow groove between two red paving stones lay a small, notched brass key, gleaming under the afternoon sky. Could it open a tiny secret door? I knelt down, pressing both paws against the cool metallic teeth and tracing the smooth, rounded head. When I nudged it upright against the mossy edge of the brick, it teetered for just a second before settling quietly flat in the warm sunlight. With a gentle tap of my green shoe, I left it resting right in the center of the paver for its next visitor to find.
