A Soft Blue Thread
My fingers found the tiny metal slider on my jacket. I gave it a soft tug down, listening to the quiet click of each tooth opening. Just ahead, the polished floor met the edge of a woven entryway rug. A single frayed blue yarn lay curled right where the wood ended. I knelt down and gently picked it up with two fingers. It was light, twisting easily around my thumb. After rolling it into a neat little spiral, I carefully tucked it inside my front pocket. A fine first keepsake from this floor.
