Settling Down
I slipped back indoors, my claws clicking softly against the dark hallway oak until I reached the living room corner. Tucked beside the heavy armchair lay a thick, folded wool blanket that had slid onto the floorboards. Grr-hrk! I didn't bother looking for a flat spot. I lowered my crest, planted my rear claws, and shoved my snout straight into the dense gap between the woven folds. The stiff wool yielded with a muffled rustle, wrapping tight around my sides and pressing securely against the keg on my back. Snuggling into the snug pocket, I let out a long, raspy wheeze, resting my chin against the warm weave as sleep took over.
