A Spiral Staircase

I nudged the edge of a thick cork coaster across the smooth coffee table, sliding it alongside three others stacked in an uneven pile. Instead of leaving them scattered, I decided to build a proper spiral staircase. Using both hands, I carefully gripped the second coaster and twisted it slightly to the right, creating a tiny overhang. One by one, I shifted each layer by an equal turn until the round rims formed four ascending steps. To test my handiwork, I lightly pressed the sole of my shoe onto the top platform; the cork held firm beneath me without a single wobble, ready for a whole new climb.
