A Little Stone Roll
I stepped past the garden gate and found a plump, round acorn resting on the walkway. Its tiny cap felt rough and textured like woven wicker beneath my thumbs. Wondering how it might travel, I carried it over to the top of a smooth flagstone slope. With a gentle nudge from both hands, I watched it roll down the cool curve, making a quiet, rhythmic rattle against the stone. It spun two small circles at the bottom before settling neatly into a green mossy seam. I knelt down beside it, very pleased with its tidy journey.
