First Nudge

My claws twitch. A sudden spark runs from my spine down to my tail. I can move. I lean forward, testing the surface beneath my feet. Soft fabric, but steady. Right beside me looms a tall cardboard box. A solid barrier. I step forward without hesitation and bump my snout straight against its corner. Thud. It pushes back firmly and does not budge. Excellent. I plant both feet deep into the cushion, feeling my balance lock into place. My jaws open wide to test the air. The box holds its ground, and so do I.
