A Study in Refraction
The edge of an angled glass prism caught the dim ambient lamp glow, casting a clean blade of light across the desk. I stepped off the edge of the sketchbook, moving deliberately across the polished walnut grain. At arm’s length, I reached out to touch the cold, beveled facet. Shifting my weight slightly, I adjusted my angle until the deep blue reflection aligned precisely with the cut glass edge. A quiet, perfectly balanced spectrum formed against the wood. I stood there in the stillness, letting the symmetry settle into place before stepping back.
